BSP to develop new headquarters in Port Moresby
Bank South Pacific (BSP) yesterday (July 13) announced plans to develop a new purpose-built headquarters in Port Moresby, supporting the Bank's continued growth and creating a landmark commercial development for PNG's capital.
When completed in the early 2030s, the campus-style headquarters will bring together BSP's 2,500 Port Moresby-based employees who currently work across seven office locations. Designed to support the future of banking, the new campus will provide a modern workplace that enhances collaboration, innovation and operational resilience.
The new BSP headquarters will include facilities for major conferences, staff training and community events, including BSP's financial literacy and small business development programmes. The campus will also feature a range of employee amenities, including secure car parking, a cafeteria, and staff wellness facilities such as a medical centre, a gym, changing rooms, showers and lockers.
BSP Group chief executive officer Mark Robinson said: "Our plans for a new headquarters reflect BSP's growth, long-term ambitions and commitment to Papua New Guinea.
"Our plan for developing a new headquarters is about building for the future. It will provide a modern, efficient and resilient workplace that supports our people, our customers and our long-term growth ambitions.
"The new headquarters will be built to high environmental standards and designed to support a digital-first experience for both employees and customers, with flexible and modern collaboration spaces.
"Importantly, it will bring our people together in a single location, improve operational efficiency and help us continue to attract, develop and retain exceptional talent."
Property portfolio optimisation
As part of the plan to develop its new headquarters, BSP will rationalise some of its existing properties in Port Moresby, commencing with the sale and lease back of its Waigani Head Office. Advertisements seeking expressions of interest in BSP's Waigani Head Office will appear in national newspapers this week.
BSP's new campus plans are at an early stage with concept design and feasibility to commence by the end of 2026, including the identification of suitable land options and initial discussions with relevant regulators to confirm the planning and approvals pathway.
