Dr Gow awarded grant for academic project
A PAPUA New Guinean Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Wentworth Institute of Technology in United States, Dr Yalinu Poya Gow has been awarded a $US 245,775 from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) under the Postsecondary Education Grant to support a new initiative at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
The funding is part of a recent $US 12.3 million investment in life sciences education and workforce development across Massachusetts announced by Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, and the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center.
Dr Gow said: "This funding will support the implementation and purchase of new laboratory equipment for two new courses I developed, Applied Laboratory Techniques for Life Sciences I & II.
"The vision behind this work is to expand hands-on, industry-relevant training opportunities, strengthen experiential learning, and help students build practical laboratory skills, gain confidence in the life sciences, and engage with modern technologies and techniques that are shaping the future workforce.
"I am deeply grateful to the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and to the leadership at Wentworth School of Sciences and Humanities for supporting this vision. It is exciting to see this work come to life and the opportunities it will create for our talented Wentworth students."
Dr Gow is a Member of Global Young Academy 2024-2029 and a Member of Scientific Advisory Board AEHS Foundation (East Coast USA).
