Enrollment agents in Kairuku urged to deliver accurate roll update

WARD enrollment agents in Kairuku, Central province were urged to correctly update the common roll.
Assistant election manager for Central Kila Gabi threw down the challenge to roll agents from Kairuku district who attended a one day roll update training at Bereina on Monday, facilitated by the Electoral Commission office.
Mr Gabi highlighted the importance of the roll agents' roles and responsibilities during the common roll update and actual polling in future elections. This is an important work you have been engaged in. The results are revealed during actual polling days," he revealed.
He reminded the roll agents on two failed LLG ward elections in the province that culminated from the failed common roll update.
We had two failed LLG ward councils election, one at Itikinumu ward in the Koiari LLG and Veikabu in the Vanapa Brown LLG. And we also had hijacking of ballot boxes, first time experienced in the province."
Mr Gabi urged the ward enrollment agents to work alongside their respective ward members to deliver accurate common roll update.
He also reminded the roll agents on the importance of the Form 11, that determines the number of people recorded in certain ward and community.
The training clearly outlined objectives of the enrollment training, understanding the process and process of enrollment, roles and responsibilities of the roll agents, code and conduct and purpose of the enrollment exercise.
A total of 102 roll agents across the three LLG of the district attended the roll enrolment training.
Mekeo LLG had 40 roll agents, Kairuku had 44 and Kuni had 18.
