Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, MP, today met with the Special Envoy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Excellency Omar Shehadeh, who is currently visiting Papua New Guinea to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Tkatchenko welcomed His Excellency Shehadeh and acknowledged the growing partnership between Papua New Guinea and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, infrastructure development and other areas of mutual interest.

The visit reflects the shared commitment of both nations to elevate diplomatic and economic ties while exploring new opportunities for collaboration that will deliver tangible benefits for their respective peoples.
Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, promoting greater business engagement and encouraging increased investment from the United Arab Emirates into Papua New Guinea. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building stronger partnerships that support economic growth, job creation and sustainable development.
Minister Tkatchenko said Papua New Guinea remains open for business and welcomes strategic partnerships that contribute to the country's development agenda.
The Government of Papua New Guinea looks forward to strengthening its relationship with the United Arab Emirates and working closely with His Excellency Omar Shehadeh and the UAE Government to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation
