FOREIGN MINISTER WELCOMES NEW INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR TO PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Justin Tkatchenko, MP, today received a courtesy call from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Mr. Okto Dorinus Manik.
Minister Tkatchenko congratulated Ambassador Manik on his appointment and welcomed him to Papua New Guinea, reaffirming the strong and enduring relationship between the two neighbouring nations.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, border cooperation, education, people-to-people exchanges, and regional development initiatives.
Minister Tkatchenko acknowledged Indonesia as one of Papua New Guinea’s most important bilateral partners and highlighted the close ties that have been built over many years through mutual respect, friendship, and constructive engagement.
“Indonesia is a valued neighbour and a strong bilateral partner. Our relationship continues to grow from strength to strength, founded on mutual respect, shared cooperation, and a common commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity,” Minister Tkatchenko said.
The Minister reaffirmed Papua New Guinea’s commitment to working closely with Indonesia to further enhance diplomatic relations and explore new opportunities for economic growth and development that will benefit both countries.
Ambassador Manik expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Papua New Guinea and advancing the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
The courtesy call marks another important step in strengthening the close diplomatic ties and friendship shared between Papua New Guinea and the Republic of Indonesia.
