KTA farewell students and teachers of Kokoda primary school with airline tickets home
After a successful fundraising marathon walk along the gruelling Kokoda Track to raise funds for the school last month, the students and teachers of Kokoda primary school were farewelled with airlines tickets on Sunday courtesy of the Kokoda Track Authority.
KTA chairman donated K20,000 in cash to cater for students, teachers and porters airline tickets last Friday in a bid to recognise the efforts of the marathon hosted by the school.
Shannen Egimbari Alquin, senior teacher and the organising and fundraising chairlady of Kokoda primary school thanked the generosity and support from the KTA with the money to purchase tickets for the travelling contingent.
She expressed her emotions with the purpose in arranging the fundraising marathon on the Kokoda Track.
We had sleepless nights to arrange all this with the insights as visionary leaders to leave a legacy for the people of Biage, Chirime, Goilala, Kaina and the Hunjara population in Kokoda to set the precedent, so other schools in the Kokoda catchment can see the impact and also imorove their own schools, she said.
She said it was a journey accomplished with challenge and sacrifice to meet their goals.
She thanked the Governor of NCD Powes Parkop and Sohe MP Henry Amuli for their contributions that will drive the purpose of the fundraising.
She also thanked the media in telling the stories of their marathon fundraising along Kokoda Track that has captured widespread attention and support nation wide and overseas in their mission.
Mr Deia complimented the school in taking the hardest challenge in facing Kokoda Track with the eight days gruelling walk that serves a purpose in their campaign with the marathon walk.
He said KTA was pleased to support the contingent with the return airfares to full fill the school's visions and mission through their journey they boldly took with their campaign.
He said the KTA stands ready to support the school with its infrastructure development as it's obligation to support education and health institutions along the track corridors.
