Kwikila Secondary school without sanitation facilities.
Health and Hygiene issues prevail in Rigo's premier Secondary School Kwikila for years.
Thank you to the Local Rigo Member Sir Ano Pala, coming to the rescue to install the bore water system but it didn't solve the issues of sanitation system at the school especially male and female students sewage and toilets. In an interview with school principal Mrs Pala Balun, she revealed male students are using nearby bushes and creeks to wash and toilet. Whilst female students are using toilet facilities from ancillary staff with a fee of K1 per use. She says this is very bad for students health. The newly opened boys and girls dormitories, Dirona Abe building built at a cost of approximately K4 million is yet to be used due to not meeting building requirements and starts falling apart. Whilst the girls Rufina Building is yet to be used by female students. The school is overcrowded with well over 800 students thus affecting food supplies on weekly basis in school messing facilities. Adding onto loads of problems, 200 plus day students struggle everyday to catch pmv to go school. She adds school does not school truck to transport students besides Central Governor Rufina Peter, donating trucks to other districts not Kwikila Secondary school. The school still owes service providers over K600 hundred thousand and trying it's best to pay on installments when funds are available. Such issues have drastically affected students learning once a top school in Southern Region is now lagging behind in academic stressed Mrs. Balun. Our local members of Parliament and elites of Rigo need to look into this issue urgently stressed school principal.
