PNG Power staff take part in team building event

THE Energy Utility Performance and Reliability Improvement Project (EUPRIP) under PNG Power Asset Development recently organised a boat cruise team-bonding session to enhance collaboration and communication among its team members and staff from PNG Power.

Held on June 26 on the MV Bulolo, the event featured 16 staff from various units who enjoyed the cruise off the Port Moresby harbour.

Project manager Donnia Bomai emphasised that teamwork and stakeholder partnerships are essential alongside technical expertise in improving electricity services in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Ms Bomai highlighted the importance of collaboration and communication as PPL transitions from EUPRIP to the National Energy Access Transformation (NEAT) project. The World Bank finances the EUPRIP and NEAT projects, which PNG Power Limited (PPL) implements.

"The success of these initiatives relies on strong teamwork and the unified development of human resources across PPL,” she stressed.

The cruise served as an opportunity for team members to detach from their daily work routines and engage in meaningful connections and collaboration.

Led by Lucy Veao from PPL's Human Resources Division, the session involved interactive activities designed to promote trust, respect, and collective problem-solving.

“This collaborative culture is expected to enhance project implementation and resolve challenges more efficiently as EUPRIP progresses to the NEAT phase,” Ms Bomai said.

According to the woman in charge, the initiative reflects PPL's commitment to workforce development and the necessary capacity building for the nation's energy future.
