PNG Rugby League Star Justin Olam Donates K30,000 Worth of Medical Supplies to Elimbari Communities
CHUAVE, SIMBU PROVINCE – Papua New Guinea rugby league star Justin Olam, through the support of the Olam Foundation, has donated medical supplies valued at K30,000 to Monono Sub-Health Centre and Wangoi Health Centre in Elimbari Local Level Government, Chuave District.
The donation brings much-needed relief to the two rural health facilities, which serve communities across East and West Elimbari. The medical supplies are expected to assist health workers in providing essential services to mothers, children, church groups, and other patients who rely on the clinics for treatment.
The contribution follows Olam's earlier visit to the district, where he officially launched the Elimbari Rugby Football League (ERFL) and pledged support towards community development initiatives, including education, sports, and church programs.
During the presentation, Olam was accompanied by fellow SP Hunters players Radley Brawa and Glen Abovu, as well as former rugby league great Michael Mark. Their visit attracted large crowds from the Mam and Yagari tribal communities, who gathered to witness the presentation and thank the players for their support.
Officer-in-Charge of Monono Sub-Health Centre, Karl Bafi, welcomed the donation and described it as a timely intervention that would significantly improve healthcare services in the area.
"Monono Sub-Health Centre and Wangoi Health Centre are important facilities that serve the people of East and West Elimbari. This donation will go a long way in supporting our health services and improving the wellbeing of our communities," Bafi said.
Community members praised Olam for remaining committed to giving back to his people despite his success on the international rugby league stage. Local leaders said his continued support for the Elimbari Rugby Football League and other community projects has inspired many young people throughout the district.
One community leader said Olam's actions demonstrate the importance of using success to create positive change and encourage future generations to pursue their dreams while supporting their communities.
Leader of the Mam Tribe, Michel Wai, expressed sincere appreciation to the Olam Foundation and the visiting rugby league players for their generosity and dedication to community development.
