Project Yumi Inc. and International Training Institute (ITI) sign MoU to empower PNG Youth
PROJECT Yumi Inc. and the International Training Institute (ITI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their shared commitment to equipping young Papua New Guineans with the skills and confidence needed to successfully enter the workforce.
The partnership will see ITI collaborate with Project Yumi Inc. to support the delivery of Project Wok, an innovative job readiness initiative designed to prepare young people for employment by providing practical, workplace-focused training and mentorship.
As part of the agreement, ITI will support Project Yumi Inc. by providing access to its training facilities in Port Moresby, creating a dedicated learning environment where Project Wok participants can develop essential workplace skills. The use of ITI's facilities will enable the programme to reach more young people while delivering a high-quality learning experience.
Project Wok aims to empower Papua New Guinean youth with sustainable skills that will help them create the foundations needed to build successful futures. The intensive one-day programme delivers a targeted four-module job readiness curriculum covering:
● Resume and application letter writing;
● Job search strategies;
● Interview techniques; and
● Preparing to start work.
Using a blended learning approach, participants are guided through practical activities by young professionals who generously volunteer their time as mentors. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants may also be offered valuable work experience placements, providing an important bridge between training and employment.
The MoU formalises a collaborative partnership between Project Yumi Inc. and ITI, creating new opportunities to extend the reach and impact of Project Wok while supporting more young Papua New Guineans on their journey towards meaningful employment.
The partnership reflects a shared vision of creating stronger employment outcomes for young people through education, industry engagement and community collaboration in Papua New Guinea.
