Rabaul DDA Delivers Tertiary Tuition Subsidies
The Rabaul District Development Authority has begun delivering tuition fee subsidy cheques to tertiary institutions across the country under its 2025 District Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy Program.
This week, the District TTFS Team visited 19 institutions in the National Capital District, including the University of Papua New Guinea and Pacific Adventist University, to present subsidy cheques and official receipts.
The subsidies have been paid directly into the institutions' bank accounts to promote transparency and accountability.
TTFS Committee Chairman Penticost Talvat said the program, initiated by Rabaul MP Dr. Allan Marat, is designed to reduce the financial burden on parents and help students continue their tertiary education.
He said the Rabaul District Development Authority Board approved K1.5 million for this year's program and reminded stakeholders that the funding is public money intended to benefit the people of Rabaul.
At the University of Papua New Guinea, Acting Deputy Bursar Lily Malaibe thanked the district for its continued investment in education, saying the support allows students to continue their studies without unnecessary financial hardship.
She added that partnerships between district authorities and tertiary institutions are important in developing Papua New Guinea's future workforce.
The TTFS Team will continue its nationwide rollout, with cheque presentations scheduled for Lae and other major centres in the coming days.
