South Pacific Brewery backs 2026 Tama Festival
THE Papua New Guinea Resource Governance Coalition (PNGRGC) continues to strengthen civil society leadership in the natural resources sector, reaffirming its strategic direction at its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM). During the meeting on June 30, 2026, coalition members unanimously voted to re-elect the incumbent PNGRGC Council for the 2026–2027 term. This ongoing work is supported by the PNG-Australia Partnership.
The AGM brought together member organisations from across Papua New Guinea to reflect on the Coalition's achievements over the past year, consider governance and financial reports, and set strategic priorities for the year ahead. Members unanimously reaffirmed the current PNGRGC Council, signaling continued confidence in its leadership and the Coalition's role as the collective voice of civil society in the extractives sector.
The reaffirmed Council comprises:
• President: Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) Inc.
• Vice President: Center for Environmental Law and Community Rights (CELCOR) Inc.
• Secretary: Consultative Implementation & Monitoring Council (CIMC)
• Treasurer: Papua New Guinea Institute of National Affairs (INA)
As Papua New Guinea's leading coalition of civil society organisations focused on resource governance, PNGRGC plays a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability and meaningful public participation in the extractive sector. The Coalition represents civil society on the Papua New Guinea Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (PNGEITI) Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG), working alongside government and industry representatives to strengthen transparency, improve public disclosure and advance reforms in the governance of the country's extractive industries.
Reaffirming PNGRGC’s commitment to leading this collective mandate, President of the PNGRGC represented through
Transparency International PNG issued a call to all civil society organisations nationwide to join the coalition.
"We call on Civil Society Organizations across the country—whether you focus on human rights, environmental protection, financial integrity, or community development—to become members of the PNGRGC. By pooling our collective expertise, elevating local voices, and standing together, we ensure that public oversight remains unshakeable and that national resource governance is transparent, responsible, and just,” said Yvonne Ngutlick, deputy director communications of Transparency International PNG.
The PNGRGC also acknowledges the commitment of its member organisations and partners whose continued support has strengthened public awareness, policy dialogue and citizen engagement on resource governance across the country. As Papua New Guinea's extractive sector continues to evolve, PNGRGC remains committed to ensuring that the voices of civil society are represented in national decision-making and that the country's natural resource wealth is managed transparently, responsibly and for the benefit of all Papua New Guineans.
